Stitching & Sharing Culture

September 15 @ 4:30 pm 6:00 pm

Come celebrate the opening of a collaborative, cross-cultural textile exhibition at the International Quilt Museum, curated by UNL School of Global Integrative Studies’ students in collaboration with students from Japan’s Saitama University.

“Stitching and Sharing Culture: Molas from Panama’s Guna People” will feature complex textiles showing the rich imagery, both indigenous and cross-cultural, that Guna women have long incorporated into their stitched handiwork.

An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Sept. 15 from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Student presentations will start at 5:00 p.m.

The IQM is pleased to hold this event in conjunction with Lincoln’s citywide celebration of Welcoming Week — a worldwide annual celebration inviting communities of all sizes to celebrate inclusive societies and deepen their commitment to creating welcoming places for everyone.
