No matter how long you’ve been in Nebraska, your voice matters! Lincoln is home to thousands of New Americans. As our city continues to grow, we want to understand the experiences of our newest neighbors to better support new arrivals.

This survey of New Americans in Lincoln will help us understand the needs and dreams of local immigrants.

The purpose of this survey is to gather feedback about newcomer experiences with housing, health, education, civic engagement, economic development, and community spaces in Lincoln.

This survey should be completed by first and second generation immigrants and refugees living in Lincoln, Nebraska. Participants must also be at least 19 years of age.

 – To inform the work of the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County’s Welcoming Plan and Prosper Lincoln’s Vital Signs research.
– To provide the City of Lincoln with greater information about your experiences and information about ways the Lincoln community can be more inclusive and provide better services for newcomers.
– To provide New Americans Task Force partner agencies like El Centro, the Asian Community & Cultural Center, the Good Neighbor Community Center, the Center for People, Lincoln Public Schools, Lutheran Family Services, Catholic Social Services, Lincoln Literacy, and many more with valuable information that can be used to improve services and opportunities for newcomers in the future.

Yes, the survey data is not connected to participants’ names. It is anonymous. Participants are welcome to provide their name and contact information to be entered to win the drawing of a $100 gift card, but this personal information will NOT be held with their survey.

The survey should take 20-30 minutes to complete.

Yes! In 2020, New Americans Task Force conducted the first survey of this kind in our city. The results helped to bring in funding for groundbreaking programs creating new employment and career pathways for newcomers. The 2024 survey will provide information that will create even more opportunities for success and belonging in Lincoln.
